Performance Advantages of vCloud Hybrid Service

August 6, 2014

Today, Principled Technologies published performance benchmarks that show how vCloud Hybrid Service outperforms competing public clouds. These strong results highlight key architectural decisions that our team made when we designed vCloud Hybrid Service. Many customers struggle with the topic of performance when transitioning to the cloud, particularly in a hybrid cloud scenario, where IT teams are personally involved in making the hardware decisions and building their private clouds. They are used to having complete control of performance characteristics and making architecture decisions based on an application’s performance needs. With public clouds, customers have to decide if the cloud provider can deliver the same level of performance they are accustomed to seeing internally. With that in mind, our team set out to design a...

vCloud Hybrid Service at VMworld

It’s VMworld this week and whether you’re in San Francisco or following the event online , you’ll hear us make some exciting announcements on the hybrid cloud front including the general availability of vCloud Hybrid Service . And while there’s lots of news to talk about, I’d like to discuss one of the upcoming ways to manage vCloud Hybrid Service vCloud Hybrid Service users have a number of options for managing cloud workloads in a hybrid scenario, and among these is the vCHS Plug-In for the vSphere Web Client. If you run vSphere in your own facilities you likely rely heavily on the vSphere Client. Those of us who have been using VMware virtualization for several years are intimately familiar...

A Look Inside vCloud Hybrid Service

May 21, 2013

Today we unveiled vCloud Hybrid Service – A VMware-owned and operated public cloud designed to help our customers seamlessly extend their private cloud resources beyond the data center . Now that I’m able to talk about the service , let me pull back the curtain on part of the architecture and technology behind vCloud Hybrid Service. When the vCloud Hybrid Service architecture team began designing the service we followed two core tenets; simplify the physical aspects of the design and use VMware software wherever possible and practical. The goal was to deliver a high-quality cloud service that fully embraced the concepts of the software-defined data center . vCloud Suite 5.1 was in development while we were designing the vCloud Hybrid...
